Dreamweaver Essentials

Adobe Dreamweaver combines visual layout tools as well as robust text-based HTML editing features for the creation and management of web sites. Beginners can create sites with the immediate access to Dreamweaver's tools, and experienced site developers familiar with hand-coding can work with the code when necessary.

MacTraining Enterprises' 2 day Dreamweaver class will introduce the beginning and intermediate user to the necessary techniques to produce well designed, easily navigable, and convenient to update, web pages. $645 person; 20% discount for 3+ in the same class.

The fee includes materials retained by the participants. Refreshments are provided. Lunch is on their own; there are various and numerous restaurants within a few minutes of the training center.

Topics include and are not limited to:

  •  The Workspace: defining sites, creating and saving a page, tools, panels, page title and background color, preview browsers

  • Adding Content: text formatting, paragraphs vs line breaks, lists, rules, Flash text

  • Graphics: backgrounds, inserting and resizing, positioning, alt text, placeholders, Flash buttons, Flash animations, QuickTime movies

  • Links: colors and formats, creating hypertext links, graphic links, anchors, image maps, email links

  • Tables: creating, importing data from spreadsheets, copy and pasting table cells, selecting and formatting a table, nesting tables, designing for a computer screen, layout view, tracing image

  • Style Sheets: understanding styles, internal and external style sheets, tag combos, creating a basic CSS layout

  • Libraries: creating, modifying, updating....what more can one say????

  • Templates: creating, adding and removing editable areas, repeating regions, optional content, nested templates

Some time during each topic will be used to analyze and modify the HTML code generated by Dreamweaver. It is appropriate that website developers know HTML. Since there is no guarantee that they will take HTML from us or from other sources, we incorporate as much as we can into this session. It's that important!
