Adobe Flash CS4 for Professionals
ActionScript 3.0

Flash CS4 Professional provides a comprehensive authoring environment for developing interactive web sites and digital animation. It is used widely by web designers, TV stations, and other video developers to create engaging applications that are rich with video, sound, graphics, and animation. Original content can be created in Flash, or imported from other Adobe applications like Illustrator and Photoshop. That's a good reason to feel comfortable with layers in these programs. Importing a button graphic from Illustrator, for example if the file is constructed properly, gives you a totally finished button in Flash, complete with its states. Then, with a few lines of ActionScript 3.0, your button is configured, and ready to use!

In addition, you can quickly design simple animations, and, as mentioned above, use ActionScript 3.0 to develop sophisticated interactive projects.

Flash topics covered in this 3 day course will include

  • Creating interactive navigation; interactive movies, creating a layout, buttons, a little ActionScript, button event handlers, animated buttons
  • Working with the Flash interface; library panel, understanding the timeline, organizing layers, the Property Inspector, tools panel, the History Palette (sort of, but not exactly like Photoshop's), previewing your movie, publishing your movie
  • Working with Graphics; understanding how strokes and fills work in Flash (important, and different from what you may be used to), making selections and learning why your selections aren't exactly what you expect, gradient fills, drawing primitives, making patterns, creating curves, transparencies, text editing
  • Adding Animation; what the project file is, animating position, pacing and timing, animating transparency and filters, swapping tween targets, the Motion Editor...
  • Symbols; (you want to know a lot about symbols in Flash), creating symbols, importing Photoshop files, editing symbols, size and position of symbol instances, blends, special effect filters, positioning in 3D space...
  • Components; Text components, create interactivity with them
  • Articulated motion and morphing; inverse kinematics and using them with shapes, constraining joints, armature options, shape tweens and hints...
  • Sound and Video; understanding this type of project file, using sounds, embedding Flash video, the Adobe Media Encoder...
  • Loading and controlling Flash content including masks and controlling movie clips
  • More on publishing; the bandwidth profiler, metadata (hooray!), publishing your movie to the web, and alternative publishing options for Macintosh and non-Macintosh platforms
